New Zealand facilitates various visitor visa types and allows various durations of stay in New Zealand, dependent on your needs.

Grandparents or Parents are able to apply for a multiple entry visa which allows them to stay for up to 18 months within a 3 year period, each stay being no longer than 6 months at a time and, additionally, up to a maximum of 9 months in an 18-month period.  

Those who need to enter New Zealand to search for employment or to complete occupational registration must declare their intentions to Immigration New Zealand when making their application.

Certain countries have a visa waiver agreement with New Zealand and if you hold a passport from a visa waiver country and meet some minimum basic criteria, you don’t need to apply for a Visitor Visa, however, you do still need to apply for an NZeTA before you travel to New Zealand provided you’re in good health and of good character. With a New Zealand visitor visa, you can visit friends and family, explore New Zealand, and participate in amateur sports and adventure activities.
