If you are not the principal applicant

  • You and the principal applicant have separated or divorced.
  • You have a protection order against the principal applicant.
  • The principal applicant has been convicted of an offence against you or a dependent child.
  • The principal applicant died.
  • The principal applicant is a New Zealand citizen now.

Permanent Residence (Skilled Migrant)

  • Points-based system: Points are allocated based on factors such as age, education, years of skilled and relevant work experience, as well as having an offer of or current skilled employment in New Zealand.
  • Work to Residence: This pathway requires two years of working in New Zealand in a specific range of occupations, without needing to go through a points-based assessment.
  • Green List Occupations: Residents visas can be applied for by individuals under the age of 56 who have an offer of skilled employment in a specified range of occupations.
  • High Salary: Individuals earning at least twice the median salary in New Zealand can also apply for a resident visa without needing to undergo a points-based assessment.
