Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) – is a permanent residence visa for points-tested skilled workers, who want to work and live in Australia.
Requirements:
- An invitation to apply
- A number of documents supporting your application. These include travel documents, birth registration documents, marriage and relationship documents (if applicable), police clearance certificates, etc.
- A strict medical examination
- A skills assessment based on your profession
- You have to be fluent in English
- Evidence of claimed skilled employment
- You will need to undergo a points test
How it Works:
- If your application is approved, you will be granted five years of multiple entries. However, if you wish to re-apply once this Visa expires, you will need to ensure that you spend a minimum of two of the five years, residing and working within the country.
- After you have spent four consecutive years living and working in Australia, you will be eligible to apply for citizenship.
Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) – is a Permanent Residence Visa for points-test skilled workers who want to work and live in Australia after being nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency.
Requirements:
- Nominated for an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupation list
- Obtain a suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- Be younger than 45 years of age
- Have achieved the score specified in your letter of invitation based on the factors in the points test
- Have competent English language proficiency
- Have been nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency.
How it Works:
If granted, you will be able to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident.
Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) – allows skilled workers to travel to Australia and work for an approved business for up to four years. You must be sponsored by an approved business. A business can sponsor someone for this visa if they cannot find an Australian citizen or permanent resident to do the skilled work.
Requirements:
- You will need to be sponsored by an approved business
- You will need to be in the possession of the required skills to fill the position for which you were nominated by an approved business.
How it Works:
If granted, you will allowed to travel to Australia and work for an approved business for up to four years.
The Skilled-Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489) – is a Temporary Entry visa for points-test skilled workers and their families to live, work and study in specified regional areas in Australia, for four years.
Requirements:
- You will have to have been nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency, or sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area
- You will need to be nominated for an occupation that is on the relevant skilled occupations list
- A suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- You will need to be younger than 45 years of age
- Achieve the score specified in your letter of invitation based on the factors in the points test
- Competent in terms of English language proficiency
